About County Farms
The County Farm Estate has been through a major rationalisation which has resulted in the sale of a substantial number of holdings as the estate is no longer to be held primarily for farming opportunity purposes. The County Council's decision taken to reduce the size of the County Farm Estate continues to be implemented.
The formal report can be found at the Council Meetings page and by selecting the report dated 18 October 2010.
Buying a County Farm
All holdings that have been declared surplus have and will be offered to the tenant in the first instance. Once this process has been completed any remaining holdings may be offered on the open market and usually by auction using local agents.
Sale of farms is seen as very important to the County Council's future financial strategy. Independent agents have valued each holding based on a freehold open market valuation which will form the basis of all negotiations.
