Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Staff Working in Schools and Early Years Settings
Somerset Centre for Integrated Learning (SCIL) offers a variety of professional training opportunities to staff working with children in the early years and school sectors. We work in partnership with a variety of awarding bodies such as: Council for Awards in Children’s Education (CACHE), City and Guilds, Institute for Leadership and Management, to deliver the training courses practitioners need to respond to national and local changes. Some examples of the training we offer are:

- Early Years Initial Teacher Training
- Foundation degrees
- Honours degrees

Early Years Leadership Framework
This is a resource for the early years workforce. The toolkit is designed to help you run your business more effectively and support you in developing good strategies for improvement, efficient practices and a well-supported business and staff team. It brings together examples and statutory information to help you run your business with the requirements set out by the Government and the local authority.
Somerset Leadership College
The Somerset Leadership College is a Somerset Children and Young People’s Compact initiative led by a steering group of school and early years leaders.
Its aim is to support, develop and inspire leaders to be the best they can be in carrying out their leadership responsibilities to continue to improve outcomes for children and young people in Somerset. Useful resources are available to download for free from the online library.
The Somerset SCITT website provides full details on our foundation degrees and our practical and highly-rated PGCE courses in primary teaching and early years which give you a Qualified Teacher Status.
