County Ticket
County Tickets are available to students attending a sixth form school or college in Somerset or a neighbouring county. They are for use on most local and cross border public bus services, subject to operator restrictions. For information about these restrictions please refer to the questions "Is there a limit to the distance I can travel?" and "Are there Individual Operator Restrictions?" on the question and answer sheets on the 2011/12 County Ticket Application Form
The quickest way for you to get your County Ticket is to download the application form online and print it. Once you have read the notes and completed the form you need to post it to the address on the Contacts tab of this page.

About this service
The County Ticket entitles the holder to travel throughout Somerset subject to the conditions of each operator and on cross border routes to and from Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon.
The County Ticket PLUS entitles the holder to the same as above PLUS cross border routes to and from Bristol, North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset.
It will not cover journeys that are wholly outside of Somerset.
How much does it cost?
Somerset County Council: Transporting Somerset has negotiated a very competitive price for both the County Ticket and the County Ticket PLUS. The costs for the 2011/12 academic year are £535.00 for the County Ticket and £645.00 for the County Ticket PLUS. You will be able to pay online by credit/debit card, cheque or by direct debit.

Why do applicants need to tell us what bus service they will be using? - The way in which we pay bus companies for their services has changed compared to previous years. This year we will be paying operators for their service based on which specific services have been used to access school/college.
