Somerset County Council

Wi-Fi in Libraries

The following libraries will be closed for an essential IT upgrade on the dates below. This is part of a wider project by SCC to improve the infrastructure across the county. Once this work has been completed full access will be restored.

All items due back on these days will be extended if the library has been closed.

12/9/18 Yeovil Library
21/9/18 Wells Library
3/10/18 Frome Library
5/10/18 Street Library
17/10/18 and 18/10/18 Taunton Library
19/10/18 Priorswood Library
19/10/18 Bishops Lydeard Library

Please note that People's Network computers and printing will not be available at Glastonbury library on Tuesday 2 October as our technicians carry out an essential upgrade. Public WiFi will be available as normal all day.

Due to essential network maintenance, there will be no internet access available to Somerset Libraries Peoples Network Computers, and no access to public Wi-Fi services on Saturday 29 September 2018. Printing services will also not be available. We apologise for the inconvenience. All services are due to be restored before opening on Monday 1 October 2018.

Your local library will be open as normal on Saturday 29 September 2018.

All of our libraries offer Wi-Fi services where you can connect to the internet with laptops and other mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

Who can use Wi-Fi
Access to the library Wi-Fi is free and available to LibrariesWest members. (Somerset is part of LibrariesWest. Members of the Library Services in Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Dorset, North Somerset, Poole and South Gloucestershire can use the Wi-Fi in Somerset Libraries).

If you are a visitor to the area you can also register with the library service for short-term Wi-Fi access. You must provide some contact details.

How long you can use Wi-Fi for
Wi-Fi is available during library opening hours. There are no restrictions on how long you can use it but sessions are set to time out after 60 minutes. This means you will have to re-enter your details to continue using the system.

Printing is not available using Wi-Fi. If members wish to print they will need to switch to a public access computer, to which charges apply.

Help available
