We strive to make sure that Somerset remains a safe place to live, work and visit. A great deal of good work is being done throughout the council to achieve this. We work in partnership with several organisations, agencies and community groups.
We have the lead role in commissioning services around care and support throughout Somerset. This includes services around domestic abuse, drug and alcohol dependency and many more.
The Community Safety Team completes various work, including supporting the Safer Somerset Partnership and co-ordinating and driving the agenda for domestic abuse, sexual violence, Prevent and hate crime.
Safer Somerset Partnership
Agencies in Somerset are working together as a single Community Safety Partnership to tackle crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour, and to reduce re-offending.
Laws and regulation
We are working in partnership with several organisations, agencies and community groups, which is a statutory requirement under the Crime & Disorder Act 1998 as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002 and the Police & Justice Act 2006.
