Somerset Waste Plan

We have begun to update our evidence base to inform a review of the Somerset Waste Core Strategy (adopted 2013). The results of this work will become a new Somerset Waste Plan.

One of the first topic areas we are reviewing is inert waste. We have prepared a revised topic paper on inert waste, which is available for download in the Information and Resources section of this page. In July 2016 we held a series of three breakfast seminars on inert waste to discuss the current position with a range of industry representatives.

Also, we have prepared a topic paper on anaerobic digestion (AD). Version 1 of this paper is available for download in the Information and Resources section of this page. If you have a comment on the AD topic paper, please let us know by 5 September 2016 by email: mineralsandwaste@somerset.gov.uk or by writing to Somerset County Council, Planning Policy Team, County Hall (B3W), Taunton, Somerset TA1 4DY

A new topic paper on radioactive waste is available for download on a dedicated page on radioactive waste – see related services.

We continue work on our evidence base and will publish relevant topic papers on this web page.
