Road safety

Somerset Road Safety is committed to reducing the numbers of collisions and casualties on the county's roads by promoting safer driving through education and road safety campaigns. Casualty reduction interventions may also involve road and traffic engineering and traffic offence enforcement.

Somerset Road Safety represents the work of our casualty reduction and road safety teams working in partnership with other organisations.

Our partners include the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Trusts, Highways England, together with driving and safety organisations, such as RoSPA, IAM, Driving Standards Agency and the Driving Instructors Association.

A wide range of programmes promoting an understanding of traffic and road safety issues are available for young people, from pre-school to sixth form and further education colleges. The immediate aim of these programmes is to help to ensure the safety of pupils as pedestrians and cyclists, but they should also make them better, and safer, riders and drivers in later life.

For more information about our work, please visit the Somerset Road Safety website  or contact us on 01823 423430.

Our education presentations are free of charge, but there may be some cost involved in other services; please see our website for more information.
