Somerset County Council acts as the Administering Authority for the Somerset Pension Fund and the Pension Section is responsible for the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS ) on behalf of Somerset County Council and 50 other employers throughout the county; eg District Councils, Colleges, Housing Associations, etc
The Pension Section also administers the Police Pension Scheme (PPS )on behalf of Avon and Somerset Police Authority and the Fire Pension Scheme ( FPS ) on behalf of the Fire Brigade
The Pension Section does NOT administer the Teachers Pension Scheme or State Retirement Pension. All queries relating to the State Retirement Pensions should be referred to DWP. Teacher Pension Scheme queries should in first instance be directed to the Education Personnel Helpline Ext 6776.
