Welcome to the website for the future organisational shape of the Children and Young People's Directorate.
This website has been set up in order to encourage a dialogue about what the future shape of the Children and Young People’s Directorate will look like. Apart from the Localities, the Five Year Education Strategy for Children and Learners pushes us towards a different relationship with schools and we need to consider the future role of the LEA functions and how we organise these in future. Above all we need to consider how we will achieve better outcomes for children and young people and try and make the best use of all our resources and those of partners to achieve this.
Phase One: From Consultation to Implementation
A small team drawn from Group Managers in each area of the Directorate, met on a monthly basis to look at how we handle the consultation process throughout the Directorate. A series of useful discussions about how we can all work together more effectively have taken place involving Group Managers and Heads of Service, as well as six consultation area events in November 2005 arranged for front-line managers in all areas of our service. Phase Two: Implementation
Following the initial restructuring within the directorate, the membership of the working group tasked with assisting in the consultation process has been refreshed. Updated details can be accessed here.

It is a really exciting time in relation to children and young people’s services, an opportunity to re-shape services in a way that really will make a difference. We are keen to move this change in a way that allows everybody’s good ideas to be part of this and value your feedback.
