Extended Schools/Locality Teams
|

|
Extensive consultation throughout 2004 strongly suggested that the most effective way to deliver preventative services to children, young people and their families was on a locality basis. This means local integrated teams focused on meeting the needs of children and young people.
The SCYPP agreed that 4 locality teams were to be set up in the first instance in the following areas:
We are keen to learn from this early work and look at how systems can be best developed to support multi-agency working, such as information sharing and the common assessment framework. This will inform the subsequent role-out of localities to other areas in Somerset from 2008 onwards.
The original proposals for the development of extended schools and locality teams in Somerset can be found in the paper
Extended Schools and Locality Teams
[ 169.5k]. This includes the job description for Locality Managers.
Following a period of consultation on the above paper, a
response document
[ 26.0k] was produced, outlining how concerns are being addressed. An updated
Localities prospectus
