The Education Development Service (EDS) is the advisory/monitoring/intervention arm of the Schools and Achievement Division. EDS has the central role in securing school improvement and leading the implementation of national strategies with Somerset schools. Support to schools is targeted in proportion to need and is based on a categorisation process undertaken in the autumn term involving representatives across the Directorate.

We are committed to:

  • working with schools to improve the quality of education provided to all our young people and raising their achievement;
  • providing access to high quality professional and curriculum development; and to supporting effective leadership and management in schools.
