The High Sheriff
The Office of High Sheriff is of great antiquity. Nowadays the High Sheriff carries out ceremonial functions, especially those associated with the justice system. He or she also undertakes a variety of voluntary work for the community, particularly that connected with crime reduction.
The High Sheriff serves for one year and changes each March.
