Richard & Judy Best Read of the Year 2008 Shortlist
This year's Richard and Judy Book Club is being televised from Wednesday 9th January to Wednesday 12th March 2007.

Galaxy British Book Awards
The shortlists have been announced for these prestigious annual awards (the oscars of the book trade) and include Richard & Judy 'Best Read of the Year', WHS Smith Children’s Book of the Year and several other categories.

Readers can vote for their favourite book in each category by using the voting form in the Preview magazines being distributed to libraries now or by going to the Galaxy British Book Awards website and voting online, where you will be entered into a prize draw for £200 worth of book tokens.
The GBBA award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 9 April and televised on Channel 4 at 4.45pm on Sunday 13 April.

Man Booker Prize for Fiction - Best of Booker
To celebrate 40 years of the Booker Prize the public, for the first time, will have the chance to vote for their choice. You will be able to vote for your choice from a shortlist of six titles, drawn up by a panel of judges, Victoria Glendenning, Mariella Frostrup and John Moore. The judges shortlist will be announced in May and voting will take place on the Man Booker Prize website.
The 25th Anniversary of the prize was celebrated in 1983 by the selection of the "Booker of Bookers" and the winner selected by a judging panel was Salman Rushdie for "Midnight's Children".

Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction 2008
The Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction, the UK's only annual book award for fiction written by a woman, has announced the 2008 longlist of books. Now in its thirteenth year, the Prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing. Find out more at www.orangeprize.co.uk

A new website has been launched providing access to recordings of poetry, information on poets and poetry. The site features guest "guides" (such as Andrew Motion) highlighting parts of the site. It also provides tips on staging literary events and links to publisher and award sites.
