Free Archaeology Talks in Somerset libraries for National Archaeology Week
During National Archaeology Week, 12th-20th July, Somerset Libraries and Glastonbury Rural Life Museum will be hosting a series of illustrated talks about the archaeology of Somerset. SCC's Historic Environment Service have arranged talks to take place in Burnham Library, Frome Library, Langport Library, Street Library and Glastonbury Rural Life Museum.

Glastonbury Rural Life Museum - 14th July: 2.30pm
'The life cycle of an Iron Age Round House'
Speakers: Dr Richard Brunning, Levels & Moors Archaeologist, & Patrick Stow, Conservation Engineer

Street Library - 15th July: 2.30pm
'A Mammoth discovery: recently uncovered evidence of Ice Age Somerset'
Speaker: Steven Membery, Development Control Archaeologist

Langport Library - 17th July: 2.30pm
Artefacts and Archaeology: recent discoveries reported to the Portable Antiquities Scheme in Somerset
Speaker: Dr Naomi Payne, Finds Liaison Officer

Eleven   Oclock show
The Eleven O'clock Show at Taunton Library
This year sees a new departure for events at Taunton Library with a series of free talks in the Meeting Room at the library, featuring local authors, and speakers from local organisations such as the National Trust, Quantock Rangers, and Somerset Wildlife Trust. The season of morning talks started with local author Malcolm Welshman talking about his career as a vet and his recently published humorous account "Pets in Prospect", and have featured "Wildlife on your Doorstep", "Getting the best from your Digital Camera" and an "Introduction to Family History".
The talks start at 11.00 a.m. and run for about one hour with the next events, admission is £1 at the door.

Please note that room capacity is limited and entry to all talks is on a "first come first served" basis. Doors open at 10.40

Frome Library Writers Self-Help Group
The Group meets every Monday at 1-3pm in the Frome Library meetings room
The majority of sessions will involve everyone bringing along current work for discussion/ feedback-fiction, non-fiction, poetry, scripts etc. One session a month (usually the first Monday) will be a structured one, with a particular theme. Booking is only required for the Festival sessions.
All welcome-from complete beginners to published writers
