Volunteering

Volunteers are invaluable members of an organisation, who make a significant contribution to the work and objectives of heritage services across Somerset.

Volunteers are people who give their time, experience, knowledge and skills, free of charge, to help achieve service objectives and to bring benefit to the local community.

Volunteering is an important expression of citizenship and is vital for the continuation of the community’s access to its history and heritage. It also enables the individual to enjoy participation in a social environment that is of interest to them, to gain experience which could lead to paid employment in the heritage sector, or which could support applications to undertake a professional heritage-related qualification.
