This service is provided on a fully traded basis and there are several options you can choose from. Please contact us for advice about which package would be most appropriate for your school.
The Standard Package
A comprehensive advice and support service allowing you full use of the Loan Service, reduced price museum sessions and in-school sessions, regular information updates and access to our experienced staff.
The features of this package are:
Loan service
- This well-established service enables you to choose items to support topic work and to tap the skills, expertise and knowledge of our staff. The loan service can provide material unavailable from any other source in the County for use in your school. Requested items that are allocated to you will be delivered to and collected from your school over 5 loan periods in each school year. Provided request material are received by the specified booking date, we guarantee delivery of allocated loan material within 9 working days of the start of the loan period. we are always prepared to reschedule deliveries or collections to suite your needs if notified in advance.
- The material available is rich and varied. it may be used as displays to enhance the school environment or as the starting point for investigations and an integral part of the pupils' work. Historical objects, many of which are origin and for handling, from Ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman times to the present day, models of buildings and vehicles, rocks and fossils, mounted birds and animals, ethnic and religious items, photographs, paintings and posters are all available to support work throughout the curriculum.
- As standard subscribers loans of items and their delivery and collection is FREE. We will be pleased to help you plan your year's curriculum needs in advance.

Standard subscribing schools are entitled to reduced price in-school sessions. (Currently £50 per session for up to 35 pupils, plus a zoned mileage charge)

teachers can take advantage of free preliminary visit to plan and organise the school visit with the assistance of our staff.
Advice and Information
Information sheets providing details pf particular activities and events for schools will be sent to schools each term. more general information bout exhibitions, the collections and other museums in Somerset can be found on the County Council website at www.somerset.gov.uk/museums . Our staff are always willing to explain the various services available and to answer any specific enquiries you may have.
The Enhanced Package
the enhanced package is very similar to the standard package except museum sessions at Glastonbury Rural life museum and in-school sessions are free (although a zoned mileage charge does apply to in-school sessions).
Pay As You Go services
The following services are available to non-subscribing schools on a 'pay as you use' basis (priority is given to subscribing schools):
the loan service (£7.50 per item or £45 for new subject loan boxes)
Museum Sessions at Glastonbury Rural life Museum (£3.50 per child)
In- School sessions (£100 per group of up to 35 pupils - plus zoned mileage charge)
