Friends of Somerset County Museum
Who we are
Friends of Somerset County Museum is a charity founded with the object of supporting the Somerset County Museum in the advancement of its aims and policies.
Friends are involved in helping to increase the collection of artefacts, pooling individual skills of members and assisting with voluntary help by supporting and co-ordinating research, raising the profile of the County Museum , raising funds for special projects and improving access to the collections.
The Friends help conserve, research and exhibit the costume collections of the County Museums Service.
Support is also given with the educational programme for schools visiting the museum. This includes the Tudors and Roman Somerset.
The Somerset County Museum closed to the public in April 2008 and will re-open as the Museum of Somerset in late summer 2010.
