This section provides concise summaries of the main knowledge of each archaeological period within Somerset based on the archaeological evidence that exists within the Somerset Historic Environment Record. Within each section are links to relevant examples within the Somerset Historic Environment Record (HER). The summaries have been based upon text from the publication 'The Archaeology of Somerset' edited by Chris Webster and Tom Mayberry and published by Somerset Books in 2007.
