Mendip Hills AONB Archaeological Survey

An archaeological survey of the Mendip Hills AONB was undertaken over a period of two years between 1986 and 1988. Twelve months were spent on the project which was sponsored by English Heritage and was carried out on behalf of the County Councils of Avon and Somerset.

The detailed results of the survey work have been incorporated in the Somerset Historic Environment Record (and the North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset records).

The downloadable report comprises a summary of the project, a thematic study of the archaeology of the area, and lastly a case study of three large estates in the AONB.
