Somerset Scientific Services is part of the Community Protection Department of Somerset County Council. It provides a wide range of specialist services to County Council departments, and to local authorities, other public sector organisations and businesses throughout the South West of England.
The County Council has its own laboratory that is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and is subjected to annual inspections. We participate in external proficiency testing schemes appropriate to our range of services, including AQUACHECK, MICROCHECK, FAPAS, WASP, RICE and AIMS and we are supported by a dedicated analytical quality control section.
