Highway Trees

We, as Highway Authority are responsible for the maintenance of 6500km of road network. Many of these roads have associated land or verges, which are deemed to belong to us. Any trees situated on these areas are also deemed to be the responsibility of this authority.

These trees are known as amenity trees as they are planted or allowed to grow because they improve the quality of our lives, rather than for their value as a timber crop.

We are charged with the responsibility to maintain and preserve our trees whilst ensuring that they do not pose a risk for people or property.
