Third Way - Taunton

Third Way - Taunton
The Taunton Third Way (TTW) is a new highway scheme designed to relieve congestion in Taunton Town Centre and improve the Environment for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users within the main shopping streets within the Town Centre.
The scheme consists of a new road linking Castle Street in the south to Wood Street in the north completing a new link between Wellington Road and Bridge Street.
In 2004 a review of the Taunton Transport Strategy was undertaken, this review highlighted the need to reduce congestion within the town centre. The proposals were then developed in conjunction with the Taunton Vision to ensure that the proposals maximised opportunities for the redevelopment of brown field sites within the Tangier Area whilst at the same time delivering benifits in terms of improved safety and reduced congestion to the main town centre shopping areas.

This project was sent out to Tender on 15 May and a contract should be awarded at beginning of July 2009.
