Community Transport in Somerset operates where other suitable transport is not available. The schemes offer different types of transport to people in areas where there is little or no Public Transport, or where, for a number of reasons, it is inaccessible to them. These services are provided for shopping trips, Health appointments, social trips, access to clubs and day-centres, access to Public Transport links and to community facilities, etc.
The forms of Community Transport are:
Taxibus services "designed to provide the safe and friendly service of a taxi for the price of a bus fare" - click here for more details and SLINKY or the Mendip Dial-a-ride services, which are pre booked demand responsive transport services (DRT).
These services are available for those who cannot access public transport, where public transport is not available and for those without access to suitable transport for their journey.
