NEWS: New fees for planning applications are applicable from 6 April 2008 - please see the Guide to Planning Fees - April 2008 which can be viewed from the Publications page.
"The Validation of Planning Applications For Waste and County Council Developments (Containing the Local List of Requirements)" - this document has now been adopted and will be used for Development Control purposes to validate Waste and County Council Development planning applications from the 1st August 2008. Please read this document, which is available to download from the Publications page before submitting an application.
Applications for permission to carry out mineral (quarries, peat working etc) and waste (landfill, tipping, waste recycling, waste transfer stations, sewage treatment plants etc) developments should be made to the County Council. Applications for the Council's own development's (Regulation 3 applications) for schools, libraries, Social Service developments and new roads etc. should also be submitted to the County Council.

PLEASE NOTE:
As from the 6th April 2008, the Standard Planning Application Form (1APP) MUST BE USED FOR ALL PLANNING APPLICATIONS (except for mineral developments).
Creating On-Line Waste & County Council Development Planning Applications using the online 1APP application forms via the National Planning Portal website;
By following the above link you will be taken to the Planning Portal website where you will be asked to select a 'user type' (either 'General Public', 'Professional User' or 'Government User'). On selecting the appropriate user and before completing an application you will need to register. Your logon and password will be used for any subsequent visits to the site. The Planning Portal website explains how to complete and submit your application, as well as allowing you to print a copy for your records.
MINERAL PLANNING APPLICATIONS - Mineral planning applications are not included in the 1APP forms. Applications relating to Mineral Developments should continue to be submitted on line from the Somerset Planning Portal page or by using the downloadable form; Mineral Planning Application Form (Paper) for submission by post.

Please read the appropriate guidance leaflet before submitting an application, as they include advice on what documentation is required to be submitted with your application.
Applications for any other developments including residential/commercial properties, building conversions, extensions and Listed Building consents should be made to the relevant District/Borough Council.
