Coleridge Way Trail Watchers Scheme

|
Would you like to join the Coleridge Way Trail Watchers Scheme and help the Somerset County Council's Rights of Way Team and Exmoor National Park's Rangers look after what has been described as 'a jewel in Somerset's rights of way crown'?
The Coleridge Way stretches 36 miles from Nether Stowey, across the Quantock and Brendon Hills over Exmoor to Porlock on the West Somerset Coast.
|
|
It celebrates the landscape that inspired the works of one of England's most well know poets, Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Whilst he was living in Nether Stowey, Coleridge wrote:
- Kubla Khan;
- The Rime of the Ancient Mariner; and
- Frost at Midnight.

We work with Exmoor National Park Authority in partnership with local landowners to make sure the Coleridge Way Remains open and easy to use for everyone to enjoy.
The trail watchers Scheme provides an opportunity for volunteers to adopt a section of the trail and help us look after it.
|
|
All we ask is that trail watchers walk the section of the path they've adopted 3 or 4 times a year and they report in any problem they come across such as broken gates or stiles or missing signposts and way markers.
We also ask them to take out a pair of secateurs just in case there's any vegetation overhanging a gate, stile or signpost that can easily be cut back.

The scheme is open to anyone between 18 and 75 years old.
Don't worry if your under 18; you can still take part provided that when you go out, you're joined by your parent or guardian.
If you are over 75, you can still part but please contact the Rights of Way Team first so we can discuss your membership.

Download the Coleridge Way Trail Watchers Scheme Leaflet and return the attached prepaid registration form to Somerset County Council's Rights of Way Team, indicating in which parish you would like to adopt part of the Coleridge Way.
