Mission Statement: Sustaining Somerset for our Future Generations

In its Mission Statement, the County Council indicates that it will provide services that are accessible, responsive and sustainable. The Sustainable Development Group works with partner organisations and through internal influence to achieve the ambition of a Sustainable Somerset in the following main categories of work.

• Energy Management of the County Council’s property estate.
• Energy and Water procurement for the property estate.
• Developing policies and researching sustainable materials and construction methods for its property, construction and maintenance activities.
• Integrate appropriate renewable energy technologies within the property and transport infrastructure managed by the County Council and to support and encourage the installation of renewable electricity, heat and transport energy in Somerset.
