Bridgwater Transport Strategy Review

What are we doing?

Somerset County Council and Sedgemoor District Council are reviewing the current transport plan for Bridgwater in order to develop a clear set of priorities for inclusion within the next countywide Local Transport Plan (LTP).

What are we trying to achieve?

The following objectives for the new transport strategy have been identified:

• Provide a transport system that accomodates the planned expansion of Bridgwater.
• Assist economic performance be ensuring congestion does not increase to unacceptable levels, by:

- Improving accessibility to maintain the current high levels of walking and cycling:

- Creating measures to maximise the effectiveness of the public transport system; and Providing targeted infrastructure improvements to tackle congestion hotspots.

• Improve safety for all road users.
• All while protecting and if possible enhancing the built and natural environmnet.
