Cyclists in Somerset now have another incentive to dust off their bikes and get themselves in shape for the Summer, with the launch of a new leisure route map.
Produced by Cycle Somerset - an independent cycling group - and Somerset County Council, the map offers opportunities for cyclists around the Taunton area.
The map is available as a traditional double-sided brochure, as well as being directly available for download, not only as a PDF file but also as 'waypoints' for use with most GPS Satellite Navigation systems
(see below).

The map was put to the test on its launch on Saturday 1st April 2006 by keen cyclists, including local MP Jeremy Browne and Somerset County Council's Chief Executive, Alan Jones, who said: "...Cycling is, above all, about fun. It is also a great way to get fit or keep fit, an excellent way to beat the congestion in town centres and it is good for the environment..."
County Councillor Hazel Prior-Sankey, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Waste commented: "The map will help people feel confident about taking to their bikes and finding their way safely."
