The Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) manage the waste collection, recycling and disposal services for all 228,000 Somerset homes, with the aim to increase recycling levels to 50 per cent and beyond and to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
The Partnership took over the responsibility of recycling and waste collection and disposal from October 2007, and it will work to expand the recycling options for the public, in order to continue the growing recycling rate in the County.

Moving to the new Somerset Waste Partnership is a big step towards improving and harmonising recycling and waste services across Somerset, helping to remove confusion over what services are provided where, not to mention making significant efficiency savings through working as a partnership.
Members of the public with queries about their recycling and waste collections can continue to contact their local council’s Customer Services Centre.
During 2005/06 in Somerset, we recycled over 47% of our household waste. The 18 Household Waste Recycling Centres in Somerset averaged 72% recycling.
