Taunton Area Study

Wednesday 5 May 2005

The Regional Assembly required Somerset County Council and partners to prepare a Taunton Sub Area Study (TSAS) to appraise development options for the Taunton Principal Urban Area. The technical appraisal and results of the public consultation, along with supporting analysis, will form the basis for an eventual set of detailed proposals from Somerset County Council with respect to the Taunton sub region, for inclusion in the Regional Spatial Strategy.

Following the public consultation that took place in February 2005 on 'what Taunton should look like in 2026', the Taunton Sub Area Study has now been completed except for minor editing. The report has been to the Executive Boards of all three local authority partners, to the Steering Group and to the South West Regional Assembly's Panel of Members.

A summary of the report and the report in full can be downloaded below. Futhermore, there is a link to the Executive Board papers of 23rd March 2005 at which the study was presented.
