Higher Education
Support is available for most students studying designated course of HE. Normally the course must be undertaken at a publicly funded institution in the UK but some courses at private establishments also qualify for support.
Support comes in the form of assistance with tuition fees, a student loan and, for students starting their course in 2004/05, a Higher Education Grant of up to £1,000. These elements of support are income assessed. There is also support in the form of grants available for specific students, those with childcare responsibilities and those with a disability.
Applications for the above support need to be made to Somerset County Council (assuming that the applicant lives in Somerset).
Further Education
