HIV and AIDS

Somerset County Council will provide appropriate Care to people living with AIDS and HIV following an assessment of needs carried out by a Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.

To ensure that the particular needs of this user group and their Carers are met there is a nominated HIV Liaison Social Worker based in each of the Area Offices.

The first point of contact with Somerset County Council will normally be through the Case Worker employed by Positive Action South West (PASW), who are the leading local HIV/AIDS organisation. The Case Worker will be able to advise on a range of local and National services and link directly with the appropriate Liaison Social Worker.
