It is often difficult for carers to leave the home for any length of time to rest or do things for themselves like meeting friends, having hobbies or outside interests.
It is important to look after yourself so that you can give the best care to the person you are looking after and still feel that you have a life outside caring.
There are different ways you can get a break from caring, either for a few hours or for a few weeks, depending on what is right for you and the person you are caring for.
