Family Support

Social Services aim to work with parents, carers and young people in a partnership based on respect, equality and fairness and to offer advice and support before a situation reaches crisis point.

We also work in partnership with other services and community groups, including Education, Health, Housing, Benefits Agencies, the Police and many other community services.  We can then decide how best to help children and young people who may need help at a time of family crisis, if they are caring for others, offend  or are at risk of offending, who struggle with school because of home problems, have limited opportunities because of their home situation, who need special help because of stress or abuse, or whose development is affected because of their behaviour.

Any services that are offered will be regularly reviewed with the family, young people and the other professionals/agencies involved.

Together with all of these people making a contribution, including family members, we form an assessment of that child and family so to identify how best we can meet their needs wherever possible in their own families and communities.
