We have secured £2,078,053 of investment from the European Social Fund (ESF) to deliver the Somerset Skills for Growth Project.
This project includes the extension of ‘Skill Up’, Somerset’s Apprenticeship and Skills Advisory Service for businesses and individuals, as well as the provision of ‘Stepping Stones,’ modules of qualifications to provide a flavour of learning and subjects to individuals. It will provide new opportunities for those in employment to upskill, working on career development.
You can find more information about Skill Up at https://www.skillupsomerset.org.uk/.
Somerset County Council and the Dorset and Somerset Training Provider Network have contributed match-funding, bringing the total project value to just under £830,000. Provision will be available to businesses and individuals from 1 April 2020 until the end of June 2023.
We will also be extending the upskilling opportunities available to the workforce, offering a further £304,000 of training to the workforce, as well as £55,000 to support apprentices to complete their learning with the Council.
The contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), as the Managing Authority, is managed by the Council’s Economy and Planning Service, while operational activity is delivered by the Dorset and Somerset Training Provider Network and Somerset County Council Organisation Development.
During the first six months of the project, we will be inviting training providers to bid to deliver elements of the Stepping Stones framework. To receive notification of this opportunity please register at www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk
