Introduction
The Somerset Work Hubs Scheme supports the establishment of flexible business workspace to meet the needs of micro-businesses and mobile workers.
It forms part of the Heart of the South West Rural Growth Network Pilot, funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and supported by the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership, Somerset County Council and Devon County Council.
What it is
The Somerset Work Hubs Scheme has launched a competitive process for potential operators to secure a package of financial and business support. There is £75,000 available to support the establishment of approximately three work hubs in appropriate existing Somerset premises. The Scheme is open to all sectors and all market towns and villages in Somerset with the exception of Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil and Frome. This rural focus is in order to comply with the Heart of the South West Rural Growth Network’s established population thresholds.
We are seeking proposals which notably
- Evidence and respond to unmet market demand
- provide professional and flexible workspace and services
- offer value for money and financial sustainability beyond the funding period
- provide at least equal match-funding
Please note that the deadline for registrations of interest in the scheme has now passed.
To assist registered applicants in developing and presenting attractive and commercially viable proposals under the Work Hubs Scheme, Somerset County Council has appointed Forward Space to provide business planning support. Full details of the free support on offer as well as work hub resources and updates are available on the Forward Space website.
