Local company Wyke Farms have made great progress to reduce their carbon emissions. These include encouraging the development of wildlife, producing their own energy from renewable sources, and saving energy through investments and changes in work practices. Wyke Farms also promise to share their knowledge with others and are engaging with their supply chain to work in more sustainable ways.
Community agriculture projects, such as the Plot Gate and the Food Forest Project, aim to be advocates for environmental change, using community allotments and tree planting programs to create habitats, improve biodiversity and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The groups run through the work of community volunteers and, as well as positively impacting the environment, aim to combat social issues, such as loneliness, throughout the community for at-risk individuals.
