Deaf Awareness Week took place on the 1-7 of May. The theme this year was Access to Communication, to encourage individuals, organizations, and governments to work together to create a more inclusive society where deaf individuals have the same access to communication as their hearing counterparts. Deaf Plus Somerset are offering mobile Advice Sessions throughout May, dates and locations can be found below:

17 May, 2-3pm at Langport Ashley House, The Avenue, TA10 9SA.

18 May, 10 -1pm at Bridgwater Talking Café, Westfield Church, Bridgwater, TA6 7DH.

18 May, 12.30 – 2pm at Bridgwater Gallagher Retail Park, Bridgwater, TA6 4AB.

25 May, 10am – 12.30pm at Yeovil Vicarage Street Methodist Church, Middle Street, BA20 1JZ.

These sessions will cover general information on sensory loss, how to use hearing equipment, signposting to classes and information about education services amongst others. More information on the service can be found at Information and Advice for Deaf People | deafPLUS – deafPLUS.
