Preparation for IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a high level and academically demanding qualification which is widely recognised by universities and professional bodies in Britain as part of their entry requirements. We will study the Academic strand which is suitable for people who want to study on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course; it is also increasingly needed by healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses who wish to practise in this country. Preparation for IELTS is an intensive course so be prepared for a lot of homework! There are four papers, or modules, to the IELTS test: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We will practise exam tasks on these in the context of typical IELTS topics such as the environment, international issues, education, government etc. The exam itself must be taken at an official IELTS centre, which will charge a fee – currently £180. Our nearest centres are in Bristol and Bath.

To join the IELTS Preparation course you will need to book an assessment interview. Your English skills need to be quite advanced to do this course. You will need to enrol and pay before the start of the course. The course runs from 11 January 2021 to 21 June 2021 with breaks for the Easter and half-term holidays. You will need to be able to attend all lessons.
