From the 1 April – 30 April we celebrate World Autism Month. Following World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, you can continue celebrating autism awareness and information to mark the month.

The Autistic Young Experts YouTube Channel- The Autistic Young Experts released their first YouTube videos on 27th March. You can watch them on the channel here at Autistic Young Experts – YouTube. Kicking off with the topic of Things I Wish People Knew About Autism, which you can watch below, Panel Members openly discuss what bugs them, what it meant to finally find their autistic tribe and the joys of stimming and spinning! Viewers will enjoy eye-opening real-life experiences from this amazing group of young people who are determined to make a difference in the lives of other autistic students. Education Resources- So far, over 7,350 professionals have accessed the Autism Acceptance education resources intending to confidently lead classroom conversations about autism with our help. The education resources are co-created with the Autistic Young Experts Panel, so you can guarantee that the autistic voice is at the heart of you Autism Acceptance learning. Somerset Autism Pathway – Did you know that Somerset has a pathway to start the process towards a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD? The ADHD pathway is from 6-17 years old, and you can find out more at more on Somerset’s SEND Local Offer at Autism and ADHD Pathway (somerset.gov.uk) There is also a helpline to support and answer your questions in regards to a new referral. This line is open to parents, carers, young people or practitioners from health, education, or social care. Phone the Referral Query and Advice line on 0303 033 3002 – open from 9 am to 12 pm every Wednesday and Thursday morning.
