Some key information
- You will be based in Taunton, County Hall, for at least 3 days per week or as required by the service.
- Flexibility to complete hours in and around Students attendance to County Hall and Teams meetings allowing for home working opportunities.
- 30 days annual leave
- Training is available and encouraged, via specific courses for CPD or utilising management training opportunities
- Oversee and support the business support team, managing ICT equipment across multiple sites and leading office moves and closures.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers for product roadmaps, repairs, support, maintenance, and ensure obsolete equipment is reused or disposed of appropriately.
- Manage ICT hardware warranties and coordinate opportunities for apprentices, T-placements, work experience for students, and care leavers.
- Assist with Freedom of Information requests and monitor mandatory training and compliance across the ICT service, working with HR&OD and ICT Team Leaders.
- Deputise for the Contracts and Business Support Manager on the corporate Health & Safety Board and understand purchase ordering rules and processes within D365
- Work within a dynamic local authority environment, with flexible working arrangements, occasional travel, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and health & safety.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Oversee and support the business support team, ensuring efficient management of ICT equipment across multiple sites.
- Coordinate office moves and closures, making sure all ICT kit is utilised appropriately, and obsolete equipment is reused or disposed of correctly.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers for hardware warranties, repairs, support, and maintenance, and manage relationships for product roadmaps and contracts.
- Lead and organise opportunities for apprentices, T-placements, work experience for students, and care leavers within the ICT service.
- Monitor mandatory training and compliance, assist with Freedom of Information requests, and deputise for the Contracts and Business Support Manager on the corporate Health & Safety Board.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
- Experience managing and coordinating ICT equipment across multiple sites, including office moves and closures.
- Proven ability to liaise with third-party suppliers for repairs, support, maintenance, product roadmaps and contract renewals and performance.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in using ICT management software and tools and understanding purchase ordering processes within D365.
- Demonstrated experience supporting apprenticeships, work placements, and compliance with training and health & safety standards.
