Summer Reading Challenge
Become a Wild World Hero this Summer
Somerset libraries are calling for children to sign up to read six books this summer and become ‘Wild World Heroes as part of the Summer Reading Challenge 2021.
The theme Wild World Heroes, was inspired by nature and developed in partnership this year with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), It encourages 4-11-year olds to borrow and read any six library books over the summer.
This year’s challenge takes place in Wilderville, where our young heroes live. Wilderville is a pretty cool place but the heroes have been noticing some problems.
Helped by their trusted animal companions, they are ready to take action to save the natural world. As children read library books for the Summer Reading Challenge, they will collect transformation stickers – some with mysterious smells. By adding these stickers to their fold out map of Wilderville, young readers will fix the environmental problem in each area and make Wilderville a better home for everyone.
On completion of the challenge, they will receive a medal and certificate for reading all six books.
To take part in Wild World Heroes, all you need to do is register at your nearest library, or register to take part here .
Wild World Heroes launches in libraries across Somerset Libraries on 10 July and runs until 10 September.
