Introduction

We strive to make sure that Somerset remains a safe place to live, work and visit. A great deal of good work is being done throughout the council to achieve this.

We work in partnership with several organisations, agencies and community groups.

We have the lead role in commissioning services around care and support throughout Somerset. This includes services around domestic abuse, drug and alcohol dependency and many more.

The Community Safety Team completes various work, including supporting the Safer Somerset Partnership and co-ordinating and driving the agenda for domestic abuse, sexual violence, Prevent and hate crime.

Safer Somerset Partnership

Agencies in Somerset are working together as a single Community Safety Partnership to tackle crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour, and to reduce re-offending.

We are working in partnership with several organisations, agencies and community groups, which is a statutory requirement under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002 and the Police and Justice Act 2006.

Working Together Partnership Protocol 2016 to 2017

The partner organisations of the Somerset Health and Wellbeing Board (HWBB), Somerset Children’s Trust (SCT), Somerset Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB), Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB), Somerset Corporate Parenting Board (SCPB) and the Safer Somerset Partnership (SSP) are committed to working together at every level to keep Somerset people safe from harm and improve their health and wellbeing.
