Key requirements for new developments
Before you submit a planning application, make sure your design meets the following requirements.
Storage and capacity
- Provide enough space for rubbish and recycling containers
- Allow space inside each property to separate recycling and food waste
- Make sure storage suits the number of households
Location and layout
Position bin stores and collection points so they are:
- Easy to reach
- Safe to use
- Not blocking roads, footpaths, or visibility
Agree collection points with the council where needed.
