Research shows that culture plays a fundamental role in employee morale, productivity, and well-being, and organisations with positive, dynamic and supportive cultures tend to have much happier and fulfilled workforces.

At Somerset Council we wanted to make sure every employee had the chance to have their say in the development of our new culture, values and behaviours. We ran a series of staff workshops which showed that what is important to our people is kindness, respect, trust, empowerment, togetherness, openness and honesty. This information formed the basis for the three core values we have developed for our organisation.
