Somerset Schools Forum

A consultative and decision-making body on issues related to schools funding

Introduction

The Schools Forum is a statutory body that provides a channel of communication between the local authority and schools. It serves as a mechanism for consultation on school funding.

It is made up of:

  • school members
  • non-school members
  • other attendees and observers – including the Cabinet member for Education and officers of the Council

School membership is representative and proportionate to pupil numbers in the relevant sector. Non-school membership includes 16 to 19 and Early Years provision.

Meetings during the 2025 to 2026 Academic Year

Meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • 30 January 2025
  • 25 November 2025
  • 20 January 2026
  • 10 March 2026
  • 23 June 2026

Unless otherwise stated, meetings are virtual and take place at 1pm. Non-members are welcome to attend meetings as observers.

To join a meeting as an observer, please contact schoolsforum@somerset.gov.uk by 5pm the Friday before a meeting.
