Somerset Schools Forum

Introduction

The Schools Forum is a statutory body that provides a channel of communication between the local authority and schools. It serves as a mechanism for consultation on school funding.

It is made up of:

• school members
• non-school members
• other attendees and observers – including the Cabinet member for Education and officers of the Council

School membership is representative and proportionate to pupil numbers in the relevant sector. Non-school membership includes 16 to 19 and Early Years provision.

Next meeting

The next meeting will be held on 22 September 2026 at 1pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend as observers and submit questions to the forum.
The deadline to submit public questions or request a link to observe the next meeting is 5pm on Friday 18 September 2026.

Meetings during the 2025 to 2026 Academic Year

Meetings will be held on the following dates:

• 22 September 2026
• 10 November 2026
• 19 January 2027
• 9 March 2027
• 29 June 2027

Unless otherwise stated, meetings are virtual and take place at 1pm. Non-members are welcome to attend meetings as observers.

To join a meeting as an observer, please contact schoolsforum@somerset.gov.uk by 5pm the Friday before a meeting.
