Early Years SENCO Network

Groups that meet once each term for early years SENCOs to share updates, ask questions and take part in training.

Overview

The network meetings are held once each whole term – autumn, spring, and summer – and are held virtually using Microsoft Teams. Each term, there are two options for attendance – an evening and an afternoon session.

The meetings are co-ordinated and led by Somerset Council colleagues from the Inclusive Curriculum and Teaching team, alongside the Virtual School and other invited presenters.

The sessions are built around key updates, professional development and opportunities to discuss what this means for early years practitioners in their own settings.

Network

The network is for professionals working in early years settings in Somerset, including:

  • early years SENCo
  • childminders with SENCo responsibilities
  • early years managers or leaders with SEND responsibility
  • other early years professionals supporting SEND

The network supports both new and experienced SENCos, giving space for reflection, peer support and sharing of best practice.

The Early Years SENCo network:

  • provides professional development opportunities
  • supports consistent SEND practice across early years settings
  • shares updates on SEND guidance, policy and expectations
  • encourages reflective practice and peer learning
  • promotes joint working across services

Monday 6 July: 6.30pm to 8pm

Tuesday 7 July: 1.30pm to 3pm

Sessions are virtual and can be booked using the Support Services for Education training calendar.
