Overview
The EHCP Standards Group is a team of professionals, parent carer and young person representatives. They work together to make sure Education, Health and Care plans in Somerset are the best they can be.
Purpose
The group meets often to:
- check that EHC plans are high quality, on time, and person-centred
- make sure plans are aspirational and led by families
- use feedback from families and young people to make things better
- share what they learn from audits and quality checks
- support clear and accessible information on the Local Offer
The group helps make sure that families are heard and involved. Everyone works together to get better results. This helps services join up and become responsive.
Auditing and data
The group reviews deep dive audits of EHC plans, EHC plan contributions (the reports and appendices professionals share), Annual Reviews, and learning from tribunals.
Data on performance, including the SEN Scorecard, is checked. This includes numbers of requests received, progressed to assessment, and finalised. Annual Reviews received and processed. And mediations and tribunals. As well also the timeliness of paperwork.
Meetings
Meetings are:
- every 6 weeks, usually online
- looking at data, feedback, and progress on actions
Following meetings, the group:
- shares updates with the SEND Partnership Board
- writes reports showing what’s working and what needs to get better
