Wraparound childcare

Information for families on childcare before and after school, and during school holidays

What is Wraparound Childcare

Wraparound childcare supports families outside the school day. It provides care before school, after school and during school holidays.

This can include breakfast clubs, after‑school clubs and holiday clubs. These services help parents work and care for their children. They also give children a safe, fun and supportive place to spend time.

Types of Provision

Wraparound childcare may be run by your child’s school or by other providers. This can include private companies, charities or registered childminders.

Care may take place at the school or at a nearby site. Most schools offer breakfast clubs before school and after‑school clubs at the end of the day.

For children under 8, providers must be registered with Ofsted. This helps make sure care is safe and good quality.

Each school manages its own clubs and activities. Contact your child’s school to find out what is available.
